Appointments and Payments
You can make an appointment by visiting reception or by telephone.
If you need to cancel an appointment, please contact the practice as soon as possible. There is a selection on the answerphone to cancel appointments, this option is available 24 hours a day. A member of staff will call you to rearrange your appointment. Please be aware of the practice cancellation policy – below.
Cancellation and Fail To Attend Policy
Private: If you cancel an appointment for private treatment with less than 24 hours notice, or fail to attend an appointment, you may incur a fee. Charges will be dependant on the length of appointment.
Due to NHS policy we have to ensure that any NHS treatment
is completed promptly following an examination. This means we are having to
introduce the following procedures.
If you fail to attend a booked appointment for NHS treatment,
you will be sent a letter and given 1 week to contact the practice to
rearrange. If your appointment has not been rebooked within this time frame the
course of treatment will be closed.
After a course of treatment is closed further appointments will be a new
course of treatment and therefore further charges will apply.
Mrs X has an
examination appointment on 1st June and it is found she requires a
filling. She pays a charge of £50.50 (Band 2) for the examination and filling
and an appointment for her filling is booked on 21st June. Mrs X
fails to attend her appointment on 21st June so she is sent a letter
advising her to contact the practice to rebook. By the 5th July Mrs
X has not contacted the practice to rebook her appointment so the course of treatment
is closed as a Band 1 course that is charged to the patient at £18.50 (the
practice will allow time for postage).
Mrs X contacts the practice on 20th July to rebook her
filling appointment, as this is after the deadline, the Band 1 charge (£18.50)
for the examination is deducted from her payment leaving her £32.00 in credit.
An appointment is made for her fillings and she is required to pay the £18.50
charge again, with the credit of £32.00 this covers the charge of £50.50 for a
Band 2 course of treatment.
Treatment appointments can re rearranged but they can only be
rearranged to a date within 2 months of the previous appointment. If the
treatment appointment is booked later than this date the course will be closed
and further charges will apply.
Mr A has an
examination appointment on 1st June and it is found he requires a
filling. He pays a charge of £50.50 (Band 2) for the examination and filling
and an appointment for his filling is booked on 21st June. Mr A calls
to rearrange his appointment on 21st June due to an unexpected
engagement .Mr A rebooks his appointment but again has to rearrange due to
unexpected circumstances. The next appointment that Mr A can attend is 5thAugust, as this longer than 2 months from his original appointment, the course
of treatment will have to be closed as Band 1 and the filling will have to be
completed under a new course of treatment. The Band 1 charge (£18.50) for the
examination is deducted from his payment leaving him £32.00 in credit. At the
filling appointment Mr A is required to pay the £18.50 charge again, with the
credit of £32.00, this covers the charge of £50.50 for a Band 2 course of
Under exceptional circumstances the practice will have some
flexibility, subject to patients attendance history.
